An ENT specialist or otolaryngologist is a medical specialty focused on the ear, nose, and throat. The physician is qualified to treat both children and adults, providing diagnosis and treatment for conditions such as snoring, rhinitis, ear infections, Tinnitus, and much more related to ENT.

It is also considered to be the oldest medical specialty and based on a study in which more than 35 million cases of chronic sinusitis were treated per year. Basically, they have the ability to manage the nasal area, including sense of smell, proper breathing through the nose, and allergies.

Septoplasty

A surgical procedure that commonly used to treat long-term sinusitis, removal of nasal polyps, difficulty in breathing, frequent nose bleeding, and several conditions that block the nasal airways. During the procedure, your nasal septum is repositioned in the middle of your nose and may proceed to the removal of parts of your nasal septum before being realigned in the correct position.

Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

This procedure is performed to remove blockages in the sinuses that cause sinusitis. If not properly treated, sinusitis may lead to a swelling of the sinus mucous membranes that causes pain and difficulty breathing. Often, compared to traditional sinus surgery, the use of endoscopic technique results in less swelling, bleeding, pain, and much quicker recovery.

Thyroid Surgery

A traditional invasive surgery performed through a small horizontal incision in the front of the neck. During the procedure, the best ENT doctor will remove all parts of your thyroid gland to treat conditions like thyroid cancer, goiter, hyperthyroidism, and suspected thyroid nodules.

Surgery for OSA or Snoring

There are several different types of surgery to treat obstructive sleep apnea and snoring, but the primary objective of most surgery is to alleviate breathing problems and widen the passage of the airway. The most common area to be treated could be in the upper respiratory tract, including the nose, tongue, and throat.

Tympanoplasty

A surgical technique to correct a defect in the tympanic membrane by placing a graft, either medial or lateral, on the tympanic membrane annulus. The goal of this procedure is not only to close the perforation but also to restore hearing and eradicate the disease from the middle ear. Typically performed on patients with a hole in the eardrum and experiencing hearing loss.

Tracheostomy

A surgical procedure that creates an incision on the front of the neck and into the trachea is where the surgeon inserted the tracheostomy tube into the hole to keep it open for breathing. Often used for health problems requiring long-term use of a machine (ventilator) and in rare cases, used in patients who experienced suddenly blocked airways after a traumatic injury to the face or neck.

Cochlear Implant Surgery

This is done by making a small incision behind the ear and sometimes a small area of hair may be trimmed from the incision site. Then the implant is placed under the skin and the electrode is inserted into the inner ear. After the surgery, tests will be performed to ensure that the implant is working properly and that the incision is closed using disposable stitches.

A wide variety of people may benefit from the various treatments and surgeries of an ENT Specialist. This not only includes all the conditions we have mentioned, but all adults and children who have different types of ear, nose, and throat disorders like chronic sinus infections, tonsillitis, hearing loss, or seasonal allergies.
